Therapy for Anxiety
Has Your Life Been Taken Over By Anxiety?
Do you have trouble managing your work-life balance? Do you constantly feel stressed or anxious? Perhaps you feel like there’s not enough time in the day and struggle to handle all your responsibilities.
You may discover that you are more irritable than you used to be. Have you found yourself snapping at friends and family members more often? Maybe little inconveniences that would not have bothered you before now create feelings of anger and frustration.
Or perhaps you’ve been more depressed and listless recently. You might feel like you’re wasting time working on projects that aren’t directly related to your job. And it’s possible you’ve started ignoring more enjoyable pastimes because you’re so concerned about your other responsibilities.
You may even be experiencing physical symptoms, such as trouble falling and staying asleep due to racing thoughts. Or perhaps you’ve experienced heart palpitations and chest pain with no discernible cause.
Thinking about the future may feel overwhelming. And thus, at this point, you probably wish you could handle the situations presented to you in a calmer manner and reclaim control over your emotions.
Many People Struggle With Anxiety
About 18.1 percent of adults in the US struggle with an anxiety disorder. Moreover, anxiety is something we all experience. Even people without a disorder can feel overwhelmed and stressed to the point where their lives are disrupted.
Many of our problems with stress relate to difficulty maintaining a healthy balance between life and other obligations. In fact, regarding the quality of work-life balance, the US is currently ranked only 30th out of 38 countries. This poor ranking is due to a number of factors, from societal pressure to long commutes.
People need to have a way to relax. When leisure time is taken away, responsibilities can become overwhelming, making it difficult to get things done. The constant stress from a heavy workload can cause a number of physical issues, such as heart problems, and also allows anxiety and depression to set in.
But sometimes you may feel like you cannot let go of the responsibilities you already have—after all, you have bills to pay. Even if you feel overwhelmed, you may not know what to do about it.
Thankfully, there’s a solution that allows you to handle the stressors you face in everyday life. Mindfulness practices can be incredibly beneficial to anyone struggling with feelings of anxiety and can help you face your problems with calmness and clarity.
